Charmian Bedford - Tytania (Midsummer Night's Dream)

Is a graduate of Cambridge University and Trinity College, London where she won the Paul Simm Opera Prize.

At Trinity she sang Blanche (Les Dialogues des Carmelites, Poulenc) and Anne (The Rake's Progress, Stravinsky). With The Academy of Ancient Music
she has sung 2nd Woman (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell). With The Choir of London she has sung Mimi (La Boheme, Puccini).

 

 

Sam Boden - Flute (Midsummer Night's Dream), Gastone (La Traviata)

Graduate of Trinity College, London where he won the Ricordi Opera Prize, the Derek Butler London Prize, the Greenhouse-Allt Prize, the Paul Simm Opera Prize.

His roles have included Tony (West Side Story World Tour), Billy - The Rise and Fall of the city of Mahaggony, Weill) at Montepulciano festival, and Grecian boy (Idomeneo, Mozart) for Opéra de Baugé.

Graduate of London University.

Susan Jiwey - Arminda (La Finta Giardiniera)

Graduate of Bristol University, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and King's College, University of London.

Graduate of the Guildhall School Of Music, where he won the Sir Frederick Painter prize, and the Scottish Academy of Music.

Is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium, Australia and of the Guildhall School of Music, London. She was a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Award competition in London, 2005.

Her roles include - Ninfa (L'Orfeo, Monteverdi) with Opera North, Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart) with the Wimbledon Orchestra, Governess (Turn of the Screw, Britten) Kiev, Ukraine, Principal Soprano (Hydrogen Jukebox, Glass) at Angers/Nantes Opera.  English National Opera - Partenope (Partenope, Handel), Nora (Riders to the Sea, Vaughan Williams).

In 2010 she will sing Celia (Lucio Silla, Mozart) with Angers/Nantes Opera Company.

 

Thill Mantero - Demetrius (Midsummer Night's Dream)

Born in France, graduated from Trinity College of Music.

Martin Nelson - Bottom (Midsummer Night's Dream)

Is a graduate of Cambridge University and has studied with Tito Gobbi in Florence and Kim Borg in Salzburg.

Martin has created a number of roles, including Dr. Kalmenius (Clockwork) by Stephen McNeff; Owl (Philoctetes) by Edward Rushton; Olivier (Therese Raquin) by Tobias Picker, all at the Royal Opera’s Linbury Theatre; another Owl in McNeff’s Tarka the Otter (British Composer Award 2007 for Best Stage Work); most recently Tiresias (Burial at Thebes) Dominique LeGendre/Seamus Heaney for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

His West End debut was in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. Other Sondheim roles include title role Sweeney Todd for Pimlico Opera in Wormwood Scrubs Prison, and for the National Theatre; Mysterious Man (Into the Woods) for ROH2 at the Royal Opera.

Graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and winner of the Dame Eva Turner prize.

Her roles include Michaela (Carmen, Bizet) and Tiny (Paul Bunyan, Britten) with the Little Opera Company. At Opéra de Baugé she has sung Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice, Gluck); Michaela (Carmen, Bizet); Kitty Bell (Martha, von Flotow).

 

Robert Presley - Germont (La Traviata)

Graduate of Kent State University (Ohio, USA).

His roles include Germont (Traviata) for Longborough Festival Opera and Riverside Opera; Ford (Falstaff, Verdi) for New Sussex Opera; Ashmodeus (Tobias and the Angel, Dove) with New Sussex Opera; Magnifico (Cenerentola, Rossini) for Garden Opera; Beckmesser (Meistersinger, Wagner) for the London Wagner Society.

In the USA he has sung Iago (Otello, Verdi) and Miller (Luisa Miller, Verdi) for Berkeley Opera; Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor, Verdi) for West Bay Opera; Rigoletto (title role) North Bay Opera; Bartolo (Barber of Seville, Rossini) for Pocket Opera; Flemish Deputy (Don Carlo, Verdi) for San Francisco Opera.

In 2010 he will sing the title role of Rigoletto for Opera Brava.

 

Richard Scott - Oberon (Midsumer Night's Dream)

The countertenor Richard Scott studied with Robin Blaze at London's Royal College of Music where he was awarded the Mario Grisi Prize for Singing.

His operatic engagements have included Fourth Innocent in The Minotaur (Cover) for the Royal Opera House, London, Narciso in Agrippina, James in Brockes Passion and Argone in Sosarme for the London Handel Festival conducted by Laurence Cummings, Atis in Croesus (Cover) and Pastore in L'Orfeo (Cover) for Opera North; Raphael in Tobias and the Angel for New Sussex Opera, Ruggiero in Alcina for Hampstead Garden Opera and most recently Andronico in Tamerlano for Opera by Definition at the Tunbridge Wells Opera House.

For Opéra de Baugé he has sung Bertarido (Rodelinda), the title role in Riccardo Primo, the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice and Didymus in Theodora.

Current engagements include Raymond in Cocteau in the Underworld for the ROH2 and the Brighton Festival, Raphael in Tobias and the Angel for the Bollington Festival and Bach Magnificat in Chester Cathedral.

 

Nathan Vale - Belfiore (La Finta Giardiniera)

Studied at the Royal College of Music and Benjamin Britten International Opera School.
Awards:  London Handel Competition - 1st Prize and Audience Prize, AESS English Song Competition

His roles include Nerone (L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Monteverdi) and Alessandro (Poro, Handel) for BBIOS; Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Mozart) for Surrey Opera; Nencio (La Infidelta Delusa, Haydn) for Bampton Classical Opera, and First Prisoner (Fidelio, Beethoven) and cover Evangelist (St Matthew Passion, J.S. Bach) for the Glyndebourne Festival.

 

Luke D. Williams - Starveling (Midsummer Night's Dream), Baron Douphol (La Traviata)

Completed postgraduate vocal studies at the Royal College of Music, London

Luke will be making his principal role debut in the 2009 season with Opéra de Baugé. In 2008 he sang in the chorus and performed the role of 'Monsieur Guillot' in Eugene Onegin .
