Musical Director - Alexander Walker

Die Zauberflöte was first performed in Vienna in 1791 when Mozart had only two more weeks to live, but the opera had a more successful run than any of his others – 197 performances in two years. It was his first opera for a popular suburban theatre rather than a court theatre. Beethoven thought that it was the greatest opera ever written and Goethe approved of it and planned (but failed) to compose a sequel.
