Considered by many to be Handel's best, Giulio Cesare in Egitto is one of the three extraordinary operas which the composer wrote in the space of a year in 1724, the others being Rodelinda (performed at Opéra de Baugé in 2005) and Tamerlano. Cesare is a miraculous blend of tragedy and comedy, history and drama, and the score provides many incomparable arias, duets and sinfonias. Soloists: Cleopatra - Susan Jiwey Cornelia - Monika-Evelin Liiv Tolomeo - Claudio Girard Nireno - Daniel Keating Roberts
